Hero WOD “Gaza”

Jeff and I arrived at the box @ 9:45 and we began to work out at 10. The most important takeaway from today is that I need to remember to thoroughly warm up.

Gaza (Time)

5-Rounds for time:
35 Kettlebell Swings, 1.5 pood
30 Push-ups
25 Pull-ups
20 Box Jumps, 30″
1-Mile Run
In honor, U.S. Air Force Major Lucas “Gaza” Gruenther, of Twain Harte, California, died Jan. 28, 2013

First, let me say that this was more difficult than “Murph”. There, I said it.

The only round of KB swings that I completed unbroken was the first round. I did, however, complete remaining rounds in reps of 25 & 10. My forearms were burning!

The first round of pushups was a challenge, and I completed in sets of 10 and then 5, 5, 5, & 5 reps. Huh? I completed rounds 2, 3, & 4 in sets of 10 reps, and the last round in sets of 10, 12, & 8 reps.

I completed first round of pull-ups in sets of 10, 7, 5, & 3 reps and the remaining rounds in reps of 15 & 10. Again, I should’ve warmed up more thoroughly.

Box jumps were perhaps the most difficult of all of the activities. I would often complete 5 and at the most completed 10 at a time.

Running, while a welcome relief from the other activities, was nonetheless difficult. Many times I contemplated walking and had to force myself to continue to run.

I finished just as the 11 am athletes were starting. I said, “Good luck with that!”

Time = 1:12:28.

I can’t recall the last time I worked out for more than an hour!
